Kings Landing is a working village set up as life would have been in the 1800’s. We made many trips to this wonderful place. I would spend hours going from house to house looking at everything and dreaming of having a home like those glorious old homes. I have strived to make my home look as colonial/primitive as possible. I am forever studying magazines looking for ideas and ways
The amoire, chimney cupboard, black bench, shelf over the stove, shelf behind chair, mirror box beside chimney cupboard, and round cricket table are all pieces that Jill made for her living room.

to make my home look like one in the 1800’s. I love the look of primitive furniture and went to woodworking school to learn the craft of building furniture. This has become my passion and every room in my house has pieces I have created. I hope you enjoy the tour of my home where I have tried to bring some of the past into the present. - Jill Williams

Colonial Inspired Dining Room
Jill put the trim on the walls and painted them to give it that wonderful
colonial look. The black, mustard and reds, as you see here, flow from room to room.
Jill loves to visit the Brimfield Antique Fleamarket that is held in Brimfield MA. She has found several treasures for her home, as well as ideas for building her next piece of furniture.
She purchased the wondeful yellow ware bowl, that she has filled with apples, setting on her stepback cupboard. She also purchased two of her dining room chairs there.
This old farm table was a site for sore eyes when Jill found it. After sanding, applying a chestnut colored stain and a sealer, she converted this old table into a beautiful piece of furniture.

Jill built several pieces for her dining room. The stepback cupboard, the dough box in the corner, the plate rack on the wall, the mirror and the little whale tail shelf with candle are all things that she made herself.

Jill built many of the items in her kitchen. Inspired by photos in a magazine, Jill recreated the high back chairs and table she had seen.
Some of the things Jill built for her kitchen, include the solid maple countertops, plate rack, mustard colored dry sink, red cabinet, and the breadboard on her stove.

Jill installed all the molding on the walls and doors in the hallway and painted them to give it a colonial feel. She also built the shelf that hangs on the wall. The look that she has achieved is one that reminds her of some of the old colonial homes that she toured while in Canada.
Colonial Inspired Guest Bedroom

Jill's prize possession in the guest bedroom is the four poster bed she built. It is painted black and is complimented by a colonial woven coverlet to match.
Jill has visited Sturbridge Village in MA several times and always comes away with many ideas.
She loves to see the textiles they used on beds and window treatments and to see how they did the walls and the furniture. She also takes interest in how they position the furniture and the type of pieces in each room. It gives her inspiration for ideas of things that she wants to get and try in her home.

In the master bedroom, Jill built the red cabinet, the green night stand and the mirror over it. She also made the red candle box hanging on the wall.
Another one of the treasures she found at Brimfield was the rocker in the corner by the bed.
